Andrea Van Cleef was born in a small town near Northern Italy alps.

After spending his post-teenage years doing various jobs (painter, driver, delivery guy, some modeling…) and playing guitar and bass guitar in different garage punk outfits, he founds his first real band in the early 2000s, the dark alt-rockers Bogartz. He starts singing because nobody in the band wants to sing, and he hasn't stopped ever since.

He is mostly known in the European “stoner rock” scene as singer and guitar player for HUMULUS.

Humulus are constantly touring around all Europe and are featured in the most important festival of the stoner rock genre.

Andrea’s first solo album is SUNDOG, released in 2012 (and recently remastered and re-released): an acoustic effort, it earns rare reviews and establishes Andrea in the European underground scene not only as a heavy rocker, but also as a singer-songwriter in the vein of the great psychedelic experimental songwriters of the 70s (John Martyn, David Crosby) and of present time (Eddie Vedder, Mark Lanegan, Jonathan Wilson). His second solo album and his first for Rivertale Productions, TROPIC OF NOWHERE (2018), is more of a band effort, and it features romantic ballads, up-tempo fuzzy rock songs and psychedelic nuances.

A box set with 6 new songs, delving deep into afrobeat rhythms and fuzz guitars, "135" (three originals and three cover versions of Pink Floyd, Bo Diddley and Dr. John’s songs) contained in three vinyl 7” is released at the beginning of 2020, but the following tour is stopped by the spreading of Covid-19.

In 2022 things are slowly getting back to normal, and a new album is out: SAFARI STATION, a cinematic, psychedelic, reverberated experience, recorded with italian blues-folk hero Diego “Deadman” Potron and produced by “Don” Antonio Gramentieri, a great listening experience!

Andrea is constantly touring all over Europe, solo and with both an acoustic and an electric set.
